Robot audio release – Rajini’s speech

Posted in Cinema, india on August 18th, 2010 by Suresh – Be the first to comment

Though Rajnikanth is one of the most sought after stars of the country and every other filmmaker looks forward to work with him yet he wasn’t the first choice for the much touted sci-fi film ROBOT. Reveals the south megastar in his witty style, “Initially Shankar approached Kamal Hassan and Shahrukh Khan for this film. They were the first choice for it. However it eventually came to me. As they say Daane Daane pe likha hai Khaane waale ka naam (it was destined for me)” ROBOT is Rajnikanth’s second consecutive film with Shankar, with whom he did his previous blockbuster SIVAJI – THE BOSS.

And it is because of this trust which made him take up this role. “Shankar is an excellent technician and one of the best directors of India who can mix the class and commercial elements very well. I did SIVAJI with him and I trust him completely, so I agreed to do the film – else I would have not done the film as it is a very tough and challenging role,” said Rajni.

Further Rajni compared ROBOT to the cult Hindi film SHOLAY, which is still fondly remembered. “Around Rs 160 crore has been invested to make the film. SHOLAY made history not because of the money or budget involved, not because it was a multi-starrer, not because of the technicalities, but because of its subject, superb characterization. So like SHOLAY, in ROBOT too there is an excellent storyline, excellent character sketches. This is the first Indian story of its type. It’s science fiction and excellently made. And I am guaranteeing it.”

Well after coming from Rajni we are all the more eager to check out his sci-fi extravaganza ROBOT.

Ageless Sachin turns 37 – Happy Birthday ‘Champion’

Posted in Cricket, IPL, News, Sachin, Suresh, india on April 24th, 2010 by Suresh – Be the first to comment

Hi everyone! Cricketers, including his Team India colleagues  celebrities wished happy birthday to champion batsman Sachin Tendulkar who turned 37 on Saturday. Left-handed batsman Yuvraj Singh, who played for Kings XI Punjab in the IPL, tweeted, “Happy birthday Master Blaster. Lots of love n best of wishes for the final.”

Legendary Australian spinner and an old friend Shane Warne wished Tendulkar on his birthday and also hoped he will recover in time for the Indian Premier League final against Chennai Super Kings on Sunday.”Happy birthday to the little master and my friend Sachin !! Hope he is not injured for the final… Good luck to both teams,” Warne said on his twitter account.

Another India cricketer Suresh Raina heaped praise on the Mumbaikar and said, “Happy Birthday Sachin, a true champion and a genuine family man.”

Also, Indian cricketers Harbhajan Singh and MS Dhoni have paid tribute to Sachin Tendulkar, who turned 37 on Saturday. According to Harbhajan, age was “just a number for Paaji [Tendulkar]” while Dhoni said he often joked there was a chance that he might retire before Tendulkar. Dhoni said Tendulkar was the reason he started playing cricket and that he “continues to be a huge source of inspiration”. “As far as his career is concerned, he seems to have got the reverse gear going. I have joked before that there is a good chance that I might retire before Tendulkar,” Dhoni said. “While Federer’s one big wish is to see his twin daughters watch him play at a Grand Slam tournament, Sachin’s son Arjun has already had the privilege of watching his father from the stands. That says a lot about his skill and endurance.”

IPL 2010 – Karthik and Vijay sparks

Posted in Cricket, india on March 31st, 2010 by Suresh – Be the first to comment

Dinesh Karthik hit a delightful half-century on a slow difficult pitch to charge Delhi Daredevils to a facile win against Rajasthan Royals at the Feroz Shah Kotla. Delhi were wobbling on 67 for 4 but Karthik added 79 with Gautam Gambhir to stabilise the innings before he exploded in style to provide the perfect finish. The target proved too stiff for Rajasthan who never got going in the chase and Delhi moved to second position in the points table.

In mean while , the fear of an early elimination from the tournament drove Chennai Super Kings to deliver their best all-round performance, that too against the table leaders. Their propensity to choke despite being in a winning position, like against Kings XI Punjab, threatened to hurt them again in front of their home fans, but some late hitting from Suresh Raina complemented the solid foundation laid by his spinners and an attacking half-century by M Vijay. Chennai won with an over to spare and Royal Challengers Bangalore’s 161 wasn’t enough.

David Warner smashed an explosive century as Delhi Daredevils romped to their first home victory this season, beating Kolkata Knight Riders by 40 runs at the Feroz Shah Kolta in New Delhi on Monday.

In a media interaction, the ‘Pocket Rocket’ said that he wanted to score a hundred in the Twenty20 format and hopes that Sehwag and he can get going together to set a new record in this format.

IPL 2010 – Sachin fined $40,000

Posted in Cricket, Sachin, india on March 30th, 2010 by Suresh – Be the first to comment

Sachin Tendulkar was fined for the second time in the IPL for bowling his overs too slowly in the game against the Kings XI Punjab. He was penalised $40,000 and his team-members were fined $10,000 for the transgression.

Tendulkar had earlier been fined $20,000 for bowling two overs short in the game against the Rajasthan Royals.

There have been two other captains who have been penalised for the slow over-rates. Kumar Sangakkara has already transgressed three times in the tournament, and was banned for a game, whereas Gautam Gambhir has been fined once before for the same offence.

The captains incur fines of $20,000 and $40,000 on each of the first two occasions after they commit the offence. On the third go, they are banned for a game, apart from being fined $50,000.

Without Sangakkara, the Kings XI Punjab lost their game against Mumbai yesterday and have won only one game out of the seven they have played. Mumbai, on the other hand, have won six out of their seven.

Unsurprisingly, Ladbrokes offer 100/1 for the Kings XI Punjab to turn the tournament around on its head and win it while Chennai Super Kings, who are placed second from the bottom are at 25/1 (Ladbrokes) to lift the trophy. Chennai have reached the final of the first IPL and the semi-final of the second edition. Mumbai (2/1 at Bet Fred) and Bangalore (7/2 at Bet Fred) are the top two favourites to clinch it.
