Christmas 2010 nearing!

Posted in Celebrations, Information on September 1st, 2010 by Suresh – 2 Comments

Christmas all over the world is wonderful.  There’s the chaos of Christmas shopping and the festive fun of Christmas parties and events – and the tranquility of Christmas Day and Boxing Day when you can walk (and drive) around without drowning in shoppers.  But of course that soon ends when the New Year sales kick in!!

Christmas in London is a magical time and made more so by some of the best Christmas lights in the world. Most of them switch on in the middle of November and we recommend checking out Bond Street, Marylebone High Street, Oxford Street, Carnaby Street and Covent Garden – and at the same time of course you can do your London Christmas shopping.  Possibly the most famous lights on a single store are at Harrods in Knightsbridge.

Following a victory at the Battle of Hastings, William the Conqueror, the then Duke of Normandy, was crowned King of England in the newly finished Westminster Abbey on Christmas Day 1066.The Trafalgar Square Christmas tree is usually a Norwegian spruce over 20 metres high and 50-60 years old. It is selected from the forests surrounding Oslo with great care several months, even years, in advance. The Norwegian foresters who look after it describe it fondly as ‘the queen of the forest’.

Place which i enjoyed the most – Kolli Hills

Hi every1. I have been in Kolli Hills for about 4 years. There are lots and lots of tourist places in India which attracts people from all over the world. But still there are many tourist place which many people does not knows it. And one among the place is Kolli Hills.

Tucked away between the Pachamalai and Kalrayan hill ranges of the Eastern Ghats in South India, Kolli Hills (or Kollimalai, in Tamil) is indeed a remarkable spot in Tamil Nadu. Unlike man-made Ooty and Kodai, Kolli Hills is traditional hill country, the land of friendly tribes, and a part of the erstwhile kingdom of Valvil Ori, a Tamil king who was renowned for his generosity and valour. Formed in the shape of an open square, these hills were also known as Chathuragiri, literally meaning square-shaped hills. Located at an ever-so-pleasant altitude ranging from 1000 to 1300 metres above mean sea level, Kolli hills enjoys a salubrious climate throughout the year.
Our enjoyment starts from the foot of the Kolli Hills. We drive through lots of Hair-Pin curves, there are total of 70 hair pin bends. At every curve, you can see and enjoy the beautiful sceneries. But when driving every curve, every1 should be careful. At anytime a vehicle may come down fast. You are advised to drive slow and careful with horn every curve.
The first place thet we reach at the top of Kolli Hills is Chollakad which has a beautiful temple and people usually pray for their lives when they go down the hill.In Cholakkadu, you can see a map of Kolli Hills with the place names and routs to see. Then on  nearby Telescopic House; its equipped with a mini telescope to see the view from the top of the Hill. Next,  there is an Arppalli Iswarar Temple, nearly 8 to 10 Kms from the Cholakkadu village, plz dont miss to take photos of the temple.

There, you can see two interesting spots, Mini Falls and the Main Falls (also known as Kolli Falls or Aagaya Gangai). The falls is the main tourism spot to see in the Kolli Hills. To reach the Aagaya Gangai falls, you should walk down by steps (steep down, nearly 45 to 60 minutes of walk). You can very much enjoy the falls bath, also very glories.

Next main thing is that coming back to the top. It takes more time and more hurt than down walk. It’s advised to don’t go there (to the falls), if you can’t do heavy physical works. It’s too hard for them.In Kolli, you can taste very sweet Pineapple and Jackfruit. Also the Kolli Hills are very famous for lot of herbals.

When leaving the Kolli Hills, you will miss the calm and chillness of the mountain nature.Missing my life a lot at Kolli Hills.

Enjoying every weekends at beach

Hi, i usually spend my weekends either at Marina Beach or Elliots Beach with my friends.

Marina beach is the longest beach of India, comprising of golden sand, good surf and a shimmering clean blue sea. This beach is counted among one of the longest beaches in Asia. Its 12-km long stretch was made beautiful by the wonderful facelift given by Governor Mountstuart Elphinstone Grant Duff in the early 1880′s, and is Chennai’s major tourist attraction today.

Elliots Beach is the best place to be in Besant Nagar. The sands of the beach have been witness to many an interesting tale: from suicides and crimes to sweet nothings and soft whisperings. Saturday and Sunday evenings here are busy; college studs are seen strutting around with their ‘gang’ or sitting as a group in the famous ‘platform’.

Close to the Marina beach is the aquarium, which has some of the most exotic collection of tropical sea fishes and fresh water fishes. The aquarium gives a chance to have a closer look at the aquatic life. The Ice House, which was used to store ice brought from Great Lakes in North America, is south to the Aquarium.

Situated on the beach, the Anna and MGR Samadhis, which are the memorials of the most popular, former Chief ministers of the state; attracts a good chunk of crowd everyday.

I’ve been around here for a quite a while. Everything about this area is nice. The air is great, the trees a treat to watch, and the beach is my favourite hang-out.We usually enter beach by evening 4pm and play cricket until 7pm. Later we will walk towards water and enjoy there by making fun with friends over there for about an hour. Then, we have some chat items and return to some good hotels on the way.Chennai keeps rocking with beautiful beach which attracts many tourists.

Visit to chennai city center on sunday evening with friends

Posted in Celebrations, Suresh on July 26th, 2009 by Suresh – 34 Comments

Hi friends, i went to Chennai City Center with my friends on sunday evening. We had a pleasant sunday evening over there. City centre of Chennai is one of the most exclusive shopping malls in Chennai. It was established on 3rd March, 2006 and was constructed by the Group of B.S. Abdur Rahman Buhari, who was a Muslim Tamil entrepreneur.

The city centre Chennai, offers a grand shopping area of more than 1,50,000 square feet. The ambience of the mall adds a new aspect to the looks of the city and has become one sure stop entertainment destination for the people. The city centre, Chennai is the most recent development in the retail industry which has officially opened few months back as of now. The mall is situated closer to the beach and has become the most high-class market in Chennai.

The interiors of this mall are bright and are more entertaining than other malls of Chennai, even though, it boasts of relatively fewer shopping outlets but, its major area of concern is on clothing. So, we entered Life Style to buy clothes and there was an awesome collections of t shirts, jean pants and formal suits. There we met actor Jeeva who came with his wife for shopping. He was as like a normal guy with others but very handsome. Then later on after our purchase we enetered KFC. There was a lot of items to eat but had only a little dinner over there.

There was also an enetertainment zone in City center which was organised by Idea by giving prizes for participating in fun games. The city centre also offers people of Chennai, an INOX movie hall, where one can enjoy movies at the big screen and most people were tuning their foots over INOX. As, we saw the time and it was 9pm and it was time to return and it was very happy visit having fun with friends.

It was an evening of glamour and glitz at Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium of the 3rd Annual Univercell Vijay Awards 2008 that was held here witnessed several popular artists, technicians, movie-makers from the filmdom who graced the ceremony. The grand spectacle unraveled the winners as well as exclusive performance by several film personalities. Actor Surya won best actor award for the year 2008 at Univercell Vijay Awards 2008 for his superb performance in the movie Vaaranam Aayiram. It was a special occasion for Surya since he received the award from Ulaga Nayagan Kamal Haasan. Surya’s Vaaranam Aayiram seems had the mass appeal and happened to be the movie of the night, as it bagged three out of five favorite categories which are choosen by tamil movie fans across the state . Vaaranam Aayiram won best film, best director (Gautham Menon) and best song (Anjala) awards.

The audience witnessed to an emotional moment on stage when the heartthrob of youngsters, Suriya won the Best Actor award. Actor Kamal Haasan gave away the prize to him on an emotional note. He stated that the Actor Sivakumar is like a brother to him and so presenting the award to the latter’s son was similar to giving an award to Kamal’s own son. At this Sivakumar broke down and cried. The stage compere Gopi, called upon the whole family of Suriya – Wife Jyothika, his parents – Sivakumar and his wife and brother and actor Karthi. Interestingly, this was the first stage appearance of the star couple, Suriya and Jyothika, since their marriage. Suriya dedicated the award to his wife and parents. Jyothika aired her views on this and said that at present she considers herself as the luckiest girl in the world.

The moment evened the crease between both and Gautham Menon promised the audience to expect a movie by him along with Harris Jayaraj in near future.
